Crafting and Card Authentique UncommonI think you’ll most likely agree with me that there is absolutely nothing common about today’s steal, the Uncommon collection by Authentique. Not only are these papers deliciously textured, a perfect weight but the combination of patterns and colors are definitely the motivator behind the name―uncommon. A refreshing and unique twist on the ordinary. What a treat we have in store today as the Authentique design team shows us just how to put the beautiful Uncommon collection to use in some common as well as very uncommon ways. One of my favorites? A mini album made out of toilet paper rolls by Emily Lanham. • • • • • First off we are treated by some stunning creations from our very own friend and fan, Misty Buck. Heather Conklin shows an example of an astonishingly cute Valentine’s Day favor or party favor combo. Next up we have a couple of exquisite projects by Cristine Redmond. And lastly we have that little gem of an Uncommon mini-album by Emily Lanham made from none other than a toilet paper roll! How’s that for up-cycling. • • • • • Thank you A-Team! I absolutely am uncommonly smitten with each and every one of your creations. Now I know what to do with all of those toilet paper rolls we go through at our home. Be sure to click on each of these talented ladies names to check out oodles of additional inspiration on their blogs. Have a great weekend. Be safe and scrap happy!
My Mind’s Eye Love Me | Mid Week MojoWed, Feb 1, 2012 - by { ♥Kristy Lee }Garnet – Layout 8 Love is in the air at ScrapbookSteals.com and I love that we have our February guest sketcher that will make anyone fall in love with today’s steal, Love Me collection by My Mind’s Eye. Today Becci Manies shows how versatile the Love Me collection is by not only creating love-themed crafts or Valentine’s crafts, but a layout about New Year’s Eve! • • • • •
With the day of love right around the corner, I could hardly wait for “Love Me” to arrive on my doorstep. I knew that I wanted to scrap photos from New Year’s Eve with the collection, to show that these papers were gorgeous for not only the Valentine’s day scrapbooking layouts. The embellishment sheet is packed with adorable accents from the banner to the colored doilies. Before I used each embellishment, I popped it off the sheet and lightly sanded the edges to make them nice and smooth. I personalized the embellishments by inking the edges, or adding glossy accents, Stickles or sanding them more for a worn look. I find that I have a lot of iPhone photos that are already cropped to square shape, so I wanted to create a layout that I could use these types of photos or others could easily trim them down to fit the layout. Ever since we put the Christmas decorations away, the girls have been asking what the next holiday is that we could decorate for. They were beyond excited to wake up one morning to see this banner hanging over our fireplace. I cut eight heart shapes out of the assorted Love Me papers and decorated each heart with the Love Me embellishments. I strung them up to a few long strands of twine and attached them with washi tape to make a beautiful Valentine’s Day garland.
Lastly, what would a love-themed collection be without a couple of Valentine’s day cards? This paper pack can definitely be more vintage looking with a little distressing and inking or it can be sweet and modern with it’s shades of pink and blue.

How To’sday | Faux PleatingTue, Jan 31, 2012 - by { ♥Kristy Lee }Good morning everyone! It’s happy How To’sday once again and today our rockstar friend and fan Erica Bass treat us to a tutorial Faux Stitching. • • • • • Don’t you just love the look of the pleated paper embellishments? I know I do but it costs an arm and a leg to buy it pre-made and is kind of a pain to make yourself. Don’t worry — I came up with the perfect solution! With a few basic supplies you will be able to create this look with ease. Supplies:
Step 1: Cut two strips of paper that are the size you want your pleated accent to be. My sample strip of paper is 12 x 2 Step 4: I applied a long line of adhesive to the top edge of my base piece of “pleating” then once the pleats were placed I rubbed off the excess adhesive. If your adhesive isn’t the type that will rub off, simply put some adhesive on the opposite end of the foam on the small pieces of paper before you glue them down. Step 5: if you like a finished edge at the top position some ribbon so it overlaps the top edge. side view of finished product. Another sample of faux pleating used on a card. • • • • • Erica, thank you so much for sharing your idea with us. I know I for one am excited to give this a try! I may even have to incorporate it into my next Mid Week Mojo. Have a great day!
Bo Bunny Crush | Monday Card Madness #69Mon, Jan 30, 2012 - by { ♥Kristy Lee }Love is in the air and what better way to craft those lovey moments than with today’s steal, the Bo Bunny Crush collection!? I mean what’s not to love about pink, black, white and red? Oh and the little blossoms and birds — well, it just doesn’t get cuter than that! Except it does. Add the trims and brads and all of the other fantastic embellishments and your Valentine’s day crafts and love projects are bound to be perfect. Even though Valentine’s Day is still a few weeks out, today’s steal came in perfect timing for me. I spent the weekend in California teaching a class at the Craft and Hobby Association show (CHA) and thought it would be nice to leave little love notes — one for my kids, one for my husband who happened to have a trip to Texas overlapping with mine and one for my dear mother in law who volunteered to help wrangle the kids this past weekend in our absence. Who says it needs to be Valentines day to tell someone you love that you love them? So sadly these cards will not be a part of the current card exchange, but I promise that I will be contributing some fun ones! If you’ve missed out on the info for the current card exchange, here are the details: Here are the details just in case you missed them.

Pink Paislee Mistables | Mid Week MojoWed, Jan 25, 2012 - by { ♥Kristy Lee }Garnet – Layout 7 So you’re kind of in a funk, feeling like all of your scrappy products are the same and you’d really like to shake things up by trying something new — well then, don’t delay in today’s steal, the Mistables collection by Pink Paislee. Not only are these papers a super fun vintage and shabby, but you get to customize them to the color palate that you want! Add the mistable embellishments and you have the workings for a one of a kind artistic creation. I had a lot of fun manipulating the papers and trims to create this layout for one of our fans, Melanie Henderson. Isn’t her family simply gorgeous? It was pretty amazing to me that I could turn the base paper from a basic white script to a custom colored paper that worked to perfection with Melanie’s photo. I also loved how well the muslin trims and flower received the mist colors as well as the flocked stickers and chipboard letters. The little bit of resist pattern adds the perfect touch! I also wanted to demonstrate how much fun the mask template that is included in today’s steal can be. If you look closely on the muslin trim on the layout you can see that I used it to mask the trim and make it multi-toned. You can also use the mask on regular paper. I turned this sheet of plain white cardstock into a cute card in just a few steps! Thank you so much Melanie for letting me scrap a photo for you. I hope you like it! I will get it sent on it’s way soon.
It’s always so exciting to figure out who the lucky weekly winner is for our random drawing. We had a ton of submissions this past week so it was even more exciting! This week our lucky winner is Melanie Carey. I love the twist that Melanie put on her sketch and how she made it truly her own! Melanie if you would please send an email with your address to customerservice@stealnetwork.com, we will be happy to get a prize sent out to you.
