Fancy Pants Designs Summer’s End | Mid Week Mojo

Turquoise – Layout 3

The first time I laid eyes on today’s steal, the Fancy Pants Summer’s End collection, it was pretty much love at first sight. The gorgeous combination of muted oranges, blues and greens, really spoke to my crafty soul. While the name of the collection connotes the wrapping up of lazy days with a hint of crispness to the air, I found this collection to work delightfully with a recent outing with my three favorite boys on one of the warmest days we’ve recently had. Sheesh, I love a good versatile collection!

The embellishments in this collection were a dream to work with. Even though some may shun the flowers on a “boy” layout, after having three girls first, I just can’t break the habit and I love how the filter paper embellishments could be crumpled up a little bit to create a flower.

And of course, banners, my current addiction along with using Instagram prints. :)

I was so in love with this collection that I whipped together this layout of my “Tuba Friend” in about 20 min. Not sure if I love or hate it, but still fun to have a quick layout done about my oldest who is currently learning how to play the tuba/sousaphone.

As far as Fancy Pants Designs go, I think they have settled on perfection. :)

And now that happy time of day I get to announce the lucky random winner of last week’s Mid Week Mojo. This week Staci Jones is our winner with this adorable Halloween layout.

Staci if you can please send an email to service@stealnetwork.com, we will be happy to send a prize out to you! Congrats girl!

Craft and Washi Tape | How To’sday

Ahhh Tuesday! It has such a lovely ring especially when accompanied by a How To’sday by the queen of tutorials, Charity Becker. Today Charity treats us with some fun tips on how to use those glorious spools of Washi tape that are adorning our scrappy collections.

• • • • •

Washi tape is a fun new craze and I’m having loads of fun playing with it. The bright colors make it a natural accent for craft paper. For this card I choose a sheet of craft paper with printed designs, but it would be just as easy to stamp designs onto craft paper with black ink.

Step 1: Using a craft knife cut out portions of the printed images.

Step 2. Trace the edge of the patterned paper onto a white piece of cardstock, then trace the cut-out areas.

Step 3: Place washi tape over the coresponding areas on the white cardstock. If the pencil makings are too dark, lightly erase so that they won’t show through the tape.

Step 4: Cut the white cardstock so it fits completely behind the patterned paper. Embellish bits of the design with floss or twine. Adhere the white cardstock to the patterned paper.

Adhere patterned paper to a card blank. Wrap the edges of the card with a corresponding color of washi tape.

I made several of these cards as end-of-year thank you notes for my children’s teachers. The inside reads, “You brighten so many lives.”

Authentique 6×6 Pad Bundles | Monday Card Madness #84

Authentique lovers you are in for a treat today! Seven different 6×6 Authentique Pad Bundles are up for grabs in today’s steal. That means lots of different patterns, stickers and die cut embellishments to fill just about every need. Yup, pretty much a 6×6 patterned paper dream.

I love 6×6 pads for creating cards. The mini prints really lend to creating a card with just the right touch. I decided to pick two of the Authentique lines that I haven’t had the pleasure of playing yet, to create this week’s Monday Card Madness creations.

First off I tinkered around with the Loyal collection. I absolutely love the combination of greens and blues and think it would be so suitable for so many things.

On the first card I went with a generic “hello” theme which would really be great for young and old, male and female alike!

Next I decided to create a card baby boy themed that used one of the many darling baby boy themed diecuts in the collection.

I then had the pleasure of creating with the Delightful collection. I simply re-created the themes of the first two cards and made these in a snap!

Gosh I love Authentique! So much fun to play with.

If you are interested in playing along with our Monday Card Madness sketches and winning the random drawing for May, be sure to have your cards created and posted to one of the Monday Card Madness sketches by Friday, June 1st at 11:59 pm.

Also, be sure to check in tomorrow for an always fabulous How To’sday by Charity Becker, Wednesday for Mid Week Mojo, and Friday for yet another spectacular guest blogger!

Have a great day.

Bo Bunny Double Dot Brads

Brads have got to rank right up there for me in the go-tos of scrappy embellishments, but when you take a basic embellishment and fancy it up like today’s steal, the Bo Bunny Double Dot Brads, it turns from a go-to to a must have. The combination of colors and added designs will not only make my crafty projects shine but will sure dress up the limb joints of my kiddo’s paper people!

If you’re looking for more to do with your brads than paper people mobility, then today’s guest blogger, my long time friend and Bo Bunny Designer, Debbie Sherman can help you out! Grab a drink, and take a moment to relax and enjoy her creations.

Good morning ScrapbookSteals Fans. I’m so excited to be here today as a guest of ScrapbookSteals!  I was even more excited when Kristy told me I’d be designing with Bo Bunny’s Double Dot brads. Now if you don’t know me, I am Bo Bunny’s biggest fan.  No really!  I have almost everything they have ever produced and the evidence in my scraproom.

Today I’m sharing a couple of projects with you that I had so much fun creating.  My first project is a layout of a wedding I went to last summer.  I took 500 photos and the bride and groom are dear friends of mine.

To create this layout I used a die cut sheet that had little flowers as a pattern.  I layered the die cut over the top of a sheet of white cardstock adhered both to a sheet of Enchanted Rose patterned paper and in the center of the flowers I adhered a Double Dot brad.  I matted my photo and embellished the remainder of the layout with yellow embellishments to coordinate with the yellow Double Dot Brads.

My next project continues with the wedding theme in form of a card.

To make this card I adhered my base layers and then stamped my sentiment on Enchanted Noteworthy. I then drew a heart shape around the sentiment and alternated Double Dot brads and jewels on the penciled heart. I finished up by embellishing with pink flowers and a flourish to match the pink Double Dot Brads.

Be sure to stop by my blog for more details on these projects or just to say hi.

Thank You ScrapbookSteals for having me as a guest!
